Spirit Airlines is considered as the 7th largest commercial airlines in the United States. It operates flight to the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America. It offers low-cost flights and is budget-friendly.
However, for such an unavoidable event happens and you have to cancel or change your flight, you should know if it’s possible to do that with your chosen airline. And in this article, we’ll discuss more the policies of Spirit Airlines regarding canceling and changing flights.

Spirit Airlines’ Travel Advisory As Of this Writing
Aruba – On Thursday, March 19, the Government of Aruba announced that they will be closing borders to arriving Guests effective Thursday, March 19 for at least 15 days. No travel into the country will be permitted.
Colombia – On March 19, the Government of Colombia announced that they will be closing all airports effective March 23 for 30 days. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
Costa Rica – On March 16, the Government of Costa Rica announced a travel ban of all foreign nationals. Costa Rican citizens, legal residents, and diplomats will be allowed to enter the country. This will be effective March 18 through April 12.
The Dominican Republic – On March 17, the Government of the Dominican Republic announced that they will be closing all airports effective March 19 for at least 15 days. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
Ecuador – On March 14, the Government of Ecuador advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 17 until further notice. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
El Salvador – On March 11, the Government of El Salvador announced a travel ban of all foreign nationals. Salvadoran citizens, legal residents, and diplomats will be allowed to enter the country. This is effective on March 11.
Guatemala – On March 16, the Government of Guatemala advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 17 until further notice. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
Honduras – On March 15, the Government of Honduras advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 15 for at least 7 days. No travel in and out of the country will be permitted.
Jamaica – On March 17, the Government of Jamaica announced a quarantine effective March 18 and will last 14 days. All Guests entering Jamaica will be required to self-quarantine for up to 14 days. Guests staying in hotels will be required to observe the quarantine rules as determined by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Panama – On March 15, the Government of Panama announced a travel ban of foreign nationals effective March 17. Panamanian citizens, residents and diplomats and persons in transit with connecting flights within 12 hours of arrival are exempt from the travel ban.
Peru – On March 15, the Government of Peru advised that they are closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 16 for at least 15 days. No travel in and out of the country will be permitted.
Puerto Rico (Aguadilla Only) – We are temporarily suspending our service to Aguadilla and rerouting all Guests on our flights into and out of San Juan. This will become effective from March 23 to April 18, 2020.
Saint Martin/Sint Maarten – On March 14, the Government of Saint Martin announced a travel ban of passengers from a number of international countries including the United States of America. This will be in effect as of March 17 and will last for at least 2 weeks.

Does Spirit Airlines offer Refunds?
Since Spirit Airlines is a low-cost carrier, they try to keep their prices for as low as possible. And for that reason, they don’t offer refundable tickets. However, passengers can choose to cancel or change their reservation anytime. Learn how to do it below.

Step 2: Select “My Trips”.
Step 3: Fill in your name and confirmation code (the 6 alphanumeric characters that can be found on your confirmation email).
Step 4: Just follow the next steps instructed by Spirit Airlines.
Note: As per Spirit Airlines, “Changes can be made up to an hour before scheduled departure. Some guests are eligible for changes or cancellations at no cost. If you cancel your reservation outside of 24 hours from booking or it is less than 7 days before you travel, any remaining balance fewer cancellation charges will be issued in a credit shell.”

Aside from doing it by yourself through their website, you can also talk to a Guest Service Agent at your airport or the Guest Contact Center. However, expect that there will be additional modification charges when you do this.
