Margaritaville to Debut Manhattan Hotel

That Margaritaville state of mind will make its presence known in the Big Apple with the opening of a $300 million hotels in the heart of Times Square.

Scheduled to open its doors in late 2020, the 29-story Margaritaville Resort Hotel will be equipped with 234 guestrooms and all the signature Margaritaville food-and-beverage concepts that its guests have to expect—including a rooftop LandShark Bar & Grill and pool Margaritaville Restaurant, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar, St. Somewhere Spa and Floridays Airstream CafĂ©. The hotel will also include a new concept for the brand, the Chill Bar.

Virgin America flies into the sunset

In the wee hours on Wednesday, the Alaska Air Group formally integrated the Virgin America flight network into the Alaska Airlines brand.

Web users who go to the virginamerica.com site are now redirected to Alaska’s website. The airlines also now have one reservation system and one mobile app. In addition, all the former Virgin America gates, ticket counters, check-in areas and baggage claim locations were to be Alaska-branded beginning Wednesday.

The last Virgin America flights were operated on April 24, including a commemorative Los Angeles-San Francisco service for employees who helped launch the airline a decade ago.

Eurowings Launches New Service from New York to Dusseldorf

On April 28, 2018, Eurowings will begin its new, nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Dusseldorf, Germany. The airline operates long-haul flights from its Dusseldorf and Munich hubs, where it offers connections to other destinations throughout Europe.

“Eurowings is now the fastest-growing airline in Europe and is also seriously ‘upping the ante’ on the long-haul,” said Oliver Wagner, chief commercial officer at Eurowings. “New York is definitely a must for our ever-growing network, especially as we develop our fleet in Dusseldorf and expand our leading position in the region.”

Delta to Add More New York – Caribbean Flights

Delta Air Lines is planning to expand the access between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York, and the Caribbean.

The airline announced an additional second daily flight to Nassau, The Bahamas, beginning October 01, 2018; a new daily service to Kingston, Jamaica, effective December 20; and a new Saturday-only service to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, beginning December 22.
