Luxury island resorts perfect for a post-COVID-19 retreat

By: Paul Eyers

We are all living throughout these strange times where nothing is the same. It is a unique period during which we all need to take a step back from our busy lives and do everything we can to stay safe, stay healthy and stay sane. For the vast majority this means staying at home, so going to work, visiting family and friends or travelling are all but distant memories. However, when things change we will be back at our desks (or whererer it is that you spend your working day) making plans to socialise with family and friends but also deciding where to enjoy your next holiday or vacation.

Some say that the current global crisis is the earth warning us all about the dangers of globalisation, consumerism and excessive travel which could well be true. Perhaps we will look back and learn from the mistakes we have made? Perhaps we will look to make positive changes going forwards? Perhaps travel as we know it will never be the same?

This is all food for thought and at the moment we all have lots of time to think and ponder the future. But for now, we are going to dream of some of our favourite luxury island resorts that would be perfect for a post-COVID-19 retreat. All are currently not accepting bookings, meaning these are all far from a reality right now, but surely we’re allowed to dream whilst planning for the future?

Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences

Due to re launch on July 1st you can be sure to enjoy a warm welcome from the team at Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences. This sleek and stylish Maldivian resort offers an array of modern villas and luxurious residences; the overwater, beach and treetop villas are all finished to the highest standard and feature private pools. The residences epitomise ultra luxury island living with everything you could possibly desire for your retreat. Full size swimming pools, private beach, spa, gym, massage room, table tennis, pool table, and a PlayStation will all ensure you will never want to leave. Book the chef (or bring your own chef) so you can enjoy meals with your friends and family prepared in your own kitchen. This is next level island life and something that dreams are made of.

Fusion Resort Phu Quoc

A short flight from Ho Chi Minh City and you could be a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the Vietnamese capital. Fusion Resort Phu Quoc is also taking bookings from July 1st and this is a great retreat option for your mind, body and soul. Start each day by enjoying their ‘breakfast anywhere and anytime’ concept, and then make the most of Fusion’s unique ‘all-spa inclusive’ service meaning you can enjoy multiple spa treatments during your stay. This flexible approach to your vacation, makes Fusion Resort Phu Quoc the ideal location to recharge your batteries in preparation for the challenges that life presents.

Six Senses Krabey Island

Due to re open on October 1st Six Senses Krabey Island offers an incredible island retreat just off the coast of Cambodia. With super convenient transfer times (15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes via private boat) this luxury resort delivers escapism on every level. As with all Six Senses resorts you can expect healthy and nutritious cuisine combined with healing treatments and wellness programmes during your stay. These ensure that feel good factor which is all part of the Six Senses experience, as are multiple planet saving and sustainability initiatives throughout this tropical island resort.

Soneva Kiri

Soneva Kiri is considered one of the finest luxury resorts in Thailand and rightly so. But this is no ordinary luxury resort, this is a Soneva luxury resort of which there are only 3 on the planet, with each of them raising the bar to unparalleled heights. Soneva Kiri is remaining open for their long term guests during the crisis and will welcome new guests once the travel restrictions in Thailand are lifted. Their comittment to the environment and wellness is unrivalled and their online Wellness Diaries offer food for thought, advice on wellbeing and even recipes to keep malyou mentally and physically healthy throughout these challenging times.

Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

Our final suggestion for your dream escape is Four Seasons Resort Langkawi in Malaysia which will re open to guests on June 1st. Set within a UNESCO Global Geopark, the natural beauty of this location is unique; limestone cliffs, tropical rainforest and the Andaman Sea combine to create the perfect retreat location. Choose from one of the stunning Pavilions and Villas, which have all been recently redesigned by the talented Bill Bensley, enjoy relaxing walks along the private beach that measures nearly 2km and book treaments at the award winning Geo Spa during your stay. Quite simply, let your vacation dreams come true at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi.

Five amazing and unique resorts in five wonderful and enchanting countries. Each very different but each offering that escapism and luxury retreat that we are dreaming of right now. Let’s hope we can get back to normal life at some time soon which will allow us to start planning our future travels. In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy and stay sane whilst looking out for those that might need your help during these challenging times.
