If you are heading to Florida for a holiday, you are going to want to check out the best of the sites. There really is loads to see and do in the area, and of course, most people associate it with a trip to Disney. Whether you are overwrought with cartoon creations or just looking for a more chilled out day, you might like to check out the local beaches. With fantastic weather and some gorgeous stretches of sand, you don’t want to miss these great venues, whether you laze and soak up the rays or take part in some water-based sports. Here are the five most stunning beaches in Florida just for you.
South Beach, Miami
This is the iconic beach that most people can name. It is packed full of action and A list celebrities, so keep your cool if one of them walks your way. The beach itself has stunning golden sand for you to top up your tan, and the water is crystal clear and very inviting. If you need refreshments, you can stroll to some of the best cocktail bars in the country, and if the mood takes you spend the night in a hotel that overlooks this fantastic seaside location.
Caladesi Island State Park, Dunedin
If private beaches are more your thing, then this could be the beach for you. It is quiet and unspoilt and is not for those looking for action and adventure. However, it is a real beauty and popular with couples as a romantic getaway. To find the beach, you must take a ferry ride from the Honeymoon Island State Park, and we are guessing these sands have seen their fair share of bended knee proposals and honeymoon walks at dusk.
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Key Biscayne
Far from the crowds while being just a stone’s throw away from Miami, this is another beach that suits those looking for a quiet day soaking up the sun and swimming in the clear blue waters. Another hidden gem, this time just over a bridge from the central town. If you are feeling energetic, there is bike hire and a wealth of bike trails waiting to be explored.
Blowing Rocks Preserve, Hobe Sound
This beach is acutely a nature reserve, and it is easy to see why. The protected area, on Jupiter Island, is a fantastic vision of rocks and water. The limestone shelf is over 100,000 years old and provides the perfect backdrop for loggerhead sea turtles who come here to nest and protect their young until they are old enough to head out to sea.
Fort Lauderdale Beach
With long stretches of glorious sand and yet more of those fantastic crystal waters this is another great beach to explore. Yachting is big around this area so if you have ever fancied a boat ride or even wanted to learn to sail you can hire yourself a Yacht Master while you are there. Less built up than some of the other beaches but still with plenty going on.
