It has been a long journey from the UK but no one can stop me from traveling to Montenegro to be with our cats! From the UK, Jonathan and I drove to Ghent in Belgium and now from Gent to Zurich, Switzerland.
It was an 8-hour drive from Gent, Belgium but it was well worth it to arrive in Zurich!
Anyway, we arrived in Zurich and I must say that the trip was very much worth it!! It is one of the world’s most livable cities and it’s not hard to see why. The city is buzzing with life and the atmosphere is vibrant. Furthermore, it’s not suffocating as the beauty of nature can be found in every corner.
Here are things you can do for a weekend trip in Zurich and our experience staying in 25hours Hotels 🙂

THINGS TO DO IN ZURICH, SWITZERLAND FOR THE WEEKEND
1) Walk around Zurich’s Old Town
What’s surprising about Zurich is there’s just so many things going on all in one place. Walk along Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s main shopping district where you’ll find almost everything related to art, fashion, and Zurich specialities. Next, head on to Rennweg for another shopping extravaganza. Some of the attractions include Paradeplatz Market Place, Augustinergasse, St. Peter Church, Lindenhof, and Giacometti Murals.
Just keep on walking like what we did and you might stumble upon a treasure (literally and figuratively)! Literally, we found an open-air antique market by the lake. Not surprising, Jonathan was already holding on to a 1964 globe which he instantly bought! He couldn’t stop smiling after that because it was such a steal!
2) Go on a cruise in Lake Zurich
Hop on a boat and see the city from its crystal clear lake. Here, you’ll be surrounded by all the glorious beauty that Zurich has to offer. Specifically, snow-capped mountains, trees, swans, and even the Lindt Chocolate Factory! If you’re going in summer, you can even go swimming!
3) Get a panoramic view of the city from Lindenhof
This historical site of the Roman Castle is situated on the Lindenhof Hill. From here, you’ll get a majestic view of the Old Town, the Limmat River, and the cathedral.
4) Enjoy a day trip from Zurich
One thing that makes Zurich extraordinary is you can do tons of day trips from here – you can do a panoramic drive to Lucerne and stop by Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen Valley; What about a trip to the majestic Rhine Falls?; Oh, Mount Pilatus is also a good idea!
WHERE WE STAYED IN ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
Our home for 2 nights in Zurich was 25hours Hotels, a contemporary hotel located in Langstrasse within the direct vicinity of the train station and is only 1 kilometer away from the Swiss National Museum.
This property like a work of art. Its bare concrete walls perfectly blend with their art installations and colorful decorative pieces. Furthermore, it serves as a residency for numerous artists preparing for their exhibitions. Our Room at the 25 Hours Hotel, Zurich
Our room is perfectly designed with a massive window overlooking the train line and the city outside. We had a glass rainforest shower in the middle of the room and even a small workspace by the window. I love how infectious the beauty of art is. Seeing all the lovely decorative pieces of art right inside our room instantly uplifted our moods! We even have Nespresso Coffee Maker and Samova Tea Station.
Food at 25 Hours Hotel
They have a restaurant called Nami where we enjoyed a delicious Israeli Cuisine. Impressively, their buffet breakfast which caters until 2 PM on the weekends for the partiers. Haha!).
The ‘Trainspotting Sauna’ at 25 Hours Hotel
They have this famous ‘trainspotting sauna’ where we just relaxed after walking around the 2nd day. It is located on the top floor and the facility overlooks the train line– hence the name ‘Trainspotting’. I just sat there for a while looking back at everything that happened and admiring the city’s skyline.
Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for its funky, chic, hip and trendy atmosphere! The staff and the food is amazing too! Oh, have I mentioned that you can stay in for free?? Well, not literally but you can pay for your stay with art pieces that you have with you!
Anything pretty, valuable, decorative and/or useful thing may be pawned in exchange for a stay. All you have to do is fill out this form, upload a photo of the item you wish to pawn and describe its history. Within 25 hours, the hotel’s curator will contact you. Interesting, right?
