ETW #7 Expat Life Fact & Fiction | Interview with Helene Sula

By: Matt Long

Marburg Germany

Another way to see more of the world is to spend time living overseas. Since it’s a complicated process our guest this week, Helene Sula, is on the show to share what it’s really like to be an expat, both good and bad.

Helene quit the corporate world and packed up two suitcases, two dogs, and she and her husband moved from Dallas, Texas to Heidelberg, Germany- a country she’d never stepped foot in. The purpose was to travel Europe, write about her travels, and encourage others to live out their  dreams. She is a full time blogger who has a passion for photography and capturing the moment. She has helped thousands of other bloggers build and grow their brand through tried and tested strategies she learned while working in digital brand strategy, social media marketing, and  marketing. Helene has been featured on national and international TV, radio, and publications.

You can find Helene on her blog, Helene in Between, as well as on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Although I’ve never lived full-time overseas, I’m very curious about the experience and would certainly consider it if the right opportunity arose. Since Helene moved to Germany, she’s written a number of articles sharing what the experience is like including these fun reads:
