It was one of the best days of my life– the love of my life aka my fiancé who happens to be from the other side of the world finally had the chance to visit me here in the Philippines for the second time. He’s British, I am a Filipina and like many foreigners, he fell in love with our beautiful country aside from me! Haha.
After days of deliberation on where we should spend 4 days among all the lovely 7,107 islands that we, Filipinos take pride of, we finally decided to choose to stay at the Province of Bohol.
We have heard so many nice things about it– their exquisite food, the friendly locals, the pristine beaches, and of course, the Chocolate Hills and the precious Tarsiers! These are things that we only hear from our friends and read about on the internet so we were very excited to see and experience everything for ourselves.
We were very lucky because Bluewater Resort & Spa in Panglao was kind enough to host us for 2 nights and our stay with them was the best. Here are 9 Reasons Why We Think They Are The Best Hotel In Panglao 🙂
1) The feeling of ‘Amuma’ reverberates within the property
Amuma is a Visayan word which means feeding, nurturing, tending, and caring. We often hear them say this word but most importantly, we felt it reverberating within the corners of the property. We were welcomed by utmost sincerity, warm greetings, and beautiful smile, we were taken care of not like as guests but like family members that they haven’t seen for a long time, and we were nurtured with peace and tranquility during our entire stay.
2) The swimming pool is massive!
Expect to have some ‘me time’ even though you’re in a pool alongside other guests because their pool is huge. It is also well maintained and the water is very clean. Not only is it very instagrammable, it is also very much swimmable :p
3) The food is bohol-icious!
The buffet breakfast is worth waking up early for. They have freshly cooked meal each morning, fresh coffee, and they have a wide array of food choices. The options are never the same each day and the cheesy ensaymada is to die for!! They also have an in-house restaurant which serves local cuisine. Everybody’s favorite is the Sinugba Nukos, Hinalang Manok, Tinolang Pugapo, and the Adobo rice. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back! :p
4) You can have a Romantic Dinner by the Beach (just like what we did)
Your stay with your loved one in a lovely place like Bohol will never be complete without a Romantic Dinner by the Beach. Their staff prepared a candlelit dinner for us right by the beach and under the stars. It’s so beautiful to hear the crashing of the waves melting in with some beautiful music. What made it even better is the delicious 4-course meal prepared by the chef. It was such a perfect night! For all the lovers out there, I highly suggest you do this too 😉
5) Perfect for Sea Tour / Island Hopping Tour
Bohol is famous for its beautiful ocean so going out to see and jump in their turquoise blue waters is a must do while you’re here. What makes this tour special is they will pick you up right in front of Bluewater’s shore so no need to go out of the resort’s property. That will save you from some extra zzzz’s you’ve been wanting for so long.
6) It is so near yet so far the famous Alona Beach
Alona Beach is known for its crazy nightlife and it is only 1.9 kilometers away from the property. If you’re feeling a little extra, you can either walk or take a tricycle to go party. Yes, it is close enough to get drunk and go home but it is also far enough for you not to hear all the crazy party music. Having said that, your good night’s sleep will never be compromised here.
7) The Villas are magnificent
We stayed in Villa Cabilao, a massive one-bedroom villa with its own dipping pool. We totally felt like it was already our honeymoon. Haha. The room, together with the bathroom is clean and beautifully designed. The room is complete with a Minibar, TV complete with channels and (our favorite) Netflix, Telephone, Air conditioning, Hairdryer, Balcony, Seating Area, Toilet, iPod dock, Wardrobe or closet, and a Coffee machine.
8) The massage at Amuma Spa is very relaxing
We tried the massage at the Amuma Spa and it was crazy good. Every stroke that Pearl (my amazing masseuse) gave me relieved me of all the stress I had for this year. I fell asleep after a few minutes as if I was a panda. What’s so cool about this massage is you can either have it under the tree or by the beach. A perfect massage with a perfect setting? Yes, please!
9) It is only 15-20 minutes away from the Bohol-Panglao International Airport
I know you’d be tired from your long flight (or long flight delays) and all you want to do is go to your hotel and lie down on the comfortable bed once you land at the airport. Worry not because in just 15-20 minutes from the newly opened Bohol-Panglao International Airport, you’ll find yourself wandering in this paradise. If you don’t feel like going through the hassle of hailing your own ride, you can always book an airport transfer from them.
