Vancouver is a lovely city, especially if you are visiting it with a partner you care about. If you are looking for things for couples to do in Vancouver, here are some of the best attractions the city has to offer.
1. Vancouver Aquarium at Night
Vancouver Aquarium After Hours is an event that occurs only several times a year. Drinks are available. If you are in town when one is happening or are able to plan your trip around it, make sure to get tickets. And don’t forget your plus-one!
The next hosting is February 14th.
2. Music Festivals
Vancouver is home to several respectable festivals that are perfect for the music-loving couple. Some of our favorites include Breakout Festival for the hip-hop crowd and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Of course, if festivals aren’t your type of thing, there are some great concert venues you can visit to get a taste of live music.
3. Queen Elizabeth Park and Bloedel Conservatory
The Queen Elizabeth Park and Conservatory is a great spot for nature-lovers of all varieties. Located at the highest point in Vancouver, Queen Elizabeth Park and the Bloedel Conservatory is home to a huge number of exotic plants and birds. The mountainous view is also quite beautiful.
4. Granville Public Market
If you travel to cities often, you’ve probably been to some outstanding markets. Between the fresh foods and vibrant atmospheres, there’s really nothing better.
Picture yourself wandering through buoyant crowds buying your significant other perfectly ripe peaches and berries that you chose as the best among other perfect fruits.
Granville Public Market is a sprawling farmers market that is sure to impress. The market runs from June to September and is open on Thursdays from 10 am to 3 pm.
5. Yaletown Nightlife
Yaletown is Vancouver’s premier neighborhood for nightlife. Whether you are looking to cut-loose or just go grab a drink, Yaletown will have what you and your partner are looking for. This area of town is also great for shopping or grabbing an exceptional coffee during the day.
6. Ice-Skating
Love the classics? Take your partner ice-skating at any of Vancouver’s rinks. Sure, you can find a rink almost anywhere cold, but is it really the same as ice-skating in Canada… aye?
Grouse Mountain makes for a particularly beautiful outdoor ice skating date. You’ll have to make it to town at the right time, as this beautiful rink is only open once a year. Throughout December this 8,000 square foot pond becomes known as The Peak of Christmas.
Otherwise, Robson Square has a much longer outdoor ice skating season.
Of course, not everyone is so nimble in ice skates. Thinking ahead could prove helpful if an accident were to occur. Traveling anywhere and partaking in physical activities can be a risk, so make sure you have the best travel insurance available before you reach your destination or go off doing something risk-worthy.
7. Dark Table Concept Restaurant
Ever wanted to experience dinner with your partner in a completely new way? Try doing it without sight.
Vancouver’s Dark Table is a pitch-black restaurant – there is no light to see by. The idea is that your other senses become heightened when one is unavailable (this is why blind people often report improved hearing). You’ll likely notice an extra kick to your food’s flavors and maybe even an extra spark when you touch your partner’s hand from across the table.
8. VanDusen Botanical Garden Hedge Maze
Ever want to just get lost with your partner? Here’s your chance.
Vancouver’s botanical gardens (an attraction in their own right) contain a large hedge maze that is perfect for a long walk and chat.
9. Slide the City
Fun City Festival is a yearly event in July. The most popular attraction at the festival is a 1,000-foot, gigantic slip-and-slide. It’s a ton of fun and a great way to cool off in the summer.
We hope you brought your swimsuit!
10. Stanley Park
This beautiful area of Vancouver is perfect for anyone looking to get away from city life. All the way in North Vancouver, this park is a local favorite which contains many sub-attractions. Take a beautiful hike or bike ride around the renowned seawall.T he nature park also contains a waterpark and a heated, outdoor pool!
11. Capilano Suspension Bridge
This one is not for couples afraid of heights. The 230-foot high Capilano Suspension Bridge is an awesome attraction for thrill seekers looking for a view of the city and surrounding areas. Wrapping Up and Packing Up
Now that you know some of the best things for couples to do in Vancouver, get to packing! You’re sure to impress your partner with this new knowledge of one of Canada’s most romantic cities.
And don’t forget to stay safe as you travel!
Good luck, globetrotters.
