Venice Officials Report 70 Percent of City is Underwater

Heavy rain and winds have caused havoc in Venice, flooding the popular tourist destination and killing at least 10 people across the region.

According to NBCNews.com, around 70 percent of the Italian city was under water Monday as the high tide reached a maximum of over five feet above sea level, the fourth-highest level ever recorded and the highest since 2008.

Following more than four years of planning and 23 months of construction at the hands of thousands of engineers, architects, artisans, designers, contractors, shipyard employees, and the newbuild and Celebrity Cruises teams, today the brand officially took delivery of Celebrity Edge.

On November 6, 2018, Celebrity Edge will begin its transatlantic voyage to its home port at T25 at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The new ship’s inaugural season will be spent sailing alternating seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruise itineraries, with its first Western Caribbean voyage departing on December 9, 2018, and its first Eastern Caribbean voyage departing on December 16, 2018. Then, in the spring of 2019, Celebrity Edge will cross the Atlantic again to the Mediterranean, where the ship will sail a range of seven- to 11-night itineraries visiting cities including Barcelona and Rome.

Singapore Airlines expands to Seattle amid big U.S. push

Singapore Airlines will begin flying from Seattle, part of a big U.S. expansion by the carrier known for its high-end service.

The Seattle flights will start in September 2019, giving Singapore its first new market in the U.S. since 2008, when it added service from Houston.

New Zealand has a message for the visitors drawn by its deep mossy forests, bubbling mud pools and magnificent peaks: clean up after yourselves.

A new campaign called the “Tiaki Promise” is telling everybody traveling to the country to take responsibility for looking after it. The country wants visitors to pick up litter and otherwise take care of their surroundings so that unsightly garbage won’t ruin the experience for others.

Tourists flying on national carrier Air New Zealand will see a 2-minute video showcasing some of the country’s stunning scenery and telling them that everybody traveling to the country should look after it.
