When you think of Barcelona the first thing you think of certainly isn’t pancakes. But with these amazing and tantilisingly tasty spots, we’re here to change your mind…
Sometimes we all crave that banana topped chocolate dropped sauce and syrup stack of warm buttery pancakes, no matter where we are in the world. So whenever you have this craving - or if it’s suddenly come to you now- be sure to check out our favourite spots for pancakes in the city…
The Best Places for Pancakes in Barcelona
Alsur Café
Our first pick has three sites around town, all just as tempting as each other. As well as pancakes, Alsur Café also serves sandwiches, salads, bagels, cakes and pastries, but we’re not here to talk about that…
Every pancake dish is packed with colour, flavour, and toppings galore! Alsur also serves buttermilk pancakes filled with chocolate and banana and piled high with butterscotch sauce. Who knew pancakes had their own heaven on earth?
The café's slogan lo que quieras cuando quieras (what you want when you want) just says it all, really.

Brunch & Cake
You might have seen a few of these cafes walking around Barcelona, and if you haven’t gone in yet, what are you waiting for!
Brunch & Cake is open seven days a week from 9am to 9pm which means pancakes for dinner is definitely possible. In fact, the café even encourages this on its website which says ‘Salad for breakfast? Pancakes for dinner? Here, anything is possible.’ We like the sound of that…
The pancakes at Brunch & Cake are super fresh and the chefs use ricotta cheese to make them moist and rich, but also light. They are then topped with fruit, honey, jam, chocolate, and cream to finish it off. If that’s still not enough, you can add any extra toppings you like.
As Brunch & Cake don’t take reservations, you might have to wait a bit on weekends but it’ll be worth it. Trust us.

Milk Bar & Bistro Restaurant
Milk was first opened by Irish expats in 2005 and since then has become a hot spot for all day cocktails, and loved for its comfy couches and retro decoration. But, they do brunch as well…
We really like the variety of the menu offered at Milk as they will happily serve burgers, salads, eggs, and bagels, along with their legendary pancakes. These are served double stacked with fruit or bacon, greek yogurt and maple syrup.
As the brunch menu is available until 4pm, you can head straight to Milk after a night out for that much needed hangover feast, revival, and rebirth.
- Carrer d’en Gignàs, 21
Firebug
At risk of sounding like our parents, Passeig de San Joan is an up and coming foodie heaven, and it’s here that you can find Firebug. Owned by the same people that own Milk, you can expect the same lavish cocktails and trendy atmosphere at Firebug.
Much like Milk, the brunch here is brilliant. Pancake lovers should try the Penny Farthing pancakes (banana, walnuts, greek yogurt, and maple syrup) and all their dishes are works of art.
Their large terrace also lets you enjoy your food in the sun. Day or night, you can’t go wrong…
- Passeig de Sant Joan, 23
Can Dende
Located in Poblenou, Can Dende offers its diners a new way to eat pancakes. Along with its urban style of high ceilings, big windows, and polished concrete floors, the café’s brunch menu is insane. We’re talking wild berries and cream pancakes, pancakes topped with eggs benedict, and even a stack covered with pulled pork and spring onion!
Although not in the prettiest street of this lovely neighbourhood, Can Dende is definitely worth the visit.
- Carrer Ciutat de Granada, 44
