It was our first time in Bali, and according to what we saw there, it is not going to be the last time we visit this amazing place.

Accommodation in Bali
We three, my wife, my three year old child and I, arrived at Bandar Udara International Ngurah Rai (Denpasar). We stayed in Bali for three weeks, moving from place to place.
We booked our hotels, in advance, with the travel agency for the first 2 nights and the last night right before departing home, so we had 17 days/nights left without reservations.
The first two days we stayed at Harris Hotel in Seminyak. It was very convenient for us with beaches nearby and above all very good quality for the price we paid for it (it was €60 for the three of us for two nights).
Spending Time in Sanur
Then we decided to move to Sanur, a great choice because beaches are way better if what you are looking for are calm-water beaches for your kid to go for a dip without any risk (in Seminyak beaches are a bit wild, good for surfers, even though the environment is really good with life music).
Blue crystal-clear water, a coral reef in the background, which stops waves becoming wild.
In Sanur we stayed at Duyung Home Stay, even cheaper than the one before and a stones throw away from the beach.
Moving to Ubud
After Sanur we decided to hire a car with a driver for three days which cost 400000 Rupiah/day, which was roughly €25 every day, but thanks to that we were able to visit the south of the island.
We spent one night over there. Next day we went to Ubud- visiting everything along the way and making a lot of stops on our way to Ubud.
The next day, once in Ubud, the same driver took us to Tanah Lot, which is located in the south-west of Bali, and everything in between the two places and back to Ubud afterwords.
Ubud makes the difference, it’s a lively city with very nice surrounding areas, full of terraced rice fields, plenty of hotels and affordable prices, taking into account that we did not have any reservation beforehand.
Gily Trawangan
After spending a few days in Ubud, we headed for Gily Trawangan, this is a paradise, at least in October.
It was not overcrowded, blue crystal-clear water, with a lot of good spots to go snorkeling (We paid 500000 Rupiah (€30) for the three of us for three hours boat trip around different islands nearby to find good spots to go snorkeling) and admire turtles among other different harmless animals and fish.
We got our hotel the day before we arrived at the island. The hotel had a better price/deal thant the one we got online, but they gave us the chance to cancel our previous booking on the website to book straight from the hotel which was Coconut Dream Bungalow. If I am not mistaken we paid €40 per night for a bungalow by the pool.
This island is very small, the only transport you have are bikes which you can hire from different places or a donkey-taxi. I would say you can walk around the island in about one hour.
Hope these lines might help you out to make up your mind and it makes you feel what I felt, when we went to this great, warm and beautiful island, which is Bali.
