U.S. visitors to Cuba declined 43% after policy changes, hurricanes
Travel Weekly

The number of Americans traveling to Cuba declined sharply in the first quarter this year, according to the Cuban government, but recent booking increases and a surge in Cuba cruises suggest that interest in the island is still strong among U.S. consumers.

Reuters, citing official Cuba data, reported in April that in the first three months of this year, the number of U.S. travelers to the island was just 56.6% of the 2017 total, contributing to a 7% drop in total foreign visits.

JetBlue to deliver fresh NYC pizza to Los Angeles
USA Today

JetBlue is looking to burnish its cred as New York’s hometown airline by delivering fresh New York City pizzas to customers in Los Angeles.

The promotion will be short-lived – running only from May 9 through May 11 – and it will be capped at 350 pies a day. But while it’s in place, JetBlue says Los Angeles-area customers can order either plain cheese ($12) or pepperoni ($15) pizzas from Patsy’s Pizzeria of East Harlem.

Those interested in testing JetBlue’s delivery service can place an order at jetblue.pizza, though they must first enter a zip code to see if they’re in an eligible delivery zone. For those who are eligible, JetBlue says customers will be able to track their pizza as it makes its way from New York to L.A.

Accommodations for tourists has also led to the destruction of a nearby wetland visited by migrating ducks.

Peru’s Rainbow mountain, or Vinicuna, is being threatened by the actions of tourist and a Canadian-based mining company, Camino Minerals Corporation, which recently applied for mining rights in the region.

The Andean, which is mountain striped with turquoise, yellow, red and purple colors is visited by 1,000 tourists, who climb to the peak every day.

The colorful mountain, which has mineral sediments that date back to millions of years, provides an important source of income for the people who live in the nearby Pampachiri community and now work guiding tourists and selling horseback rides.
