New Orleans at 300: Crescent City celebrates its big birthday in style
USA Today
From red-beans-and-rice to trout rémoulade, Uptown to Backatown, jazz to funk, New Orleans has long been a city of contrasts.
Since its founding in 1718, opposing forces have convulsed and recast the Big Easy into a gumbo of competing cultures and traditions. W Hotels Opens First Property in Jordan
Hospitality Design
The W Amman has opened, the brand’s first property in Jordan. Located in the emerging downtown neighborhood of Abdali, the hotel is inspired by the energy of the Middle East that also celebrates local history, culture, and tradition from a contemporary angle.
Channeling the beauty of the nearby rock formations of Petra, the hotel welcomes visitors with a striking façade and the signature Living Room, which will function as a clubhouse for guests with low seating, open space, and mood lighting. Modernized versions of traditional patterns punctuate the area along with modern art form artists Jamal A. Rahim and Bader Mahasneh. Additional public spaces include the restaurants Mesh and Enso, as well as the Aura bar, which is crafted with rose stone tones and colorful, silk-like floors. The Wet Deck on the rooftop enhances the pooldeck experience, doubling as a music venue and a design conceived as a modern depiction of the Roman Theater Atrium.
